The json checksum benchmarks had to be modified in PR #774 as optional new fields would be added. Instead, we could avoid writing certain fields (that are useful for debugging only). This PR proposes one way to do that (suggested by @AlexanderSinn).

Also, some fields may be available in the diagnostics that are not yet in the documentation, this could also be fixed at the same time.
