The west is hot. Pheonix is recording some record high temperatures. But don't forget about the daily minimum temperatures. When the nights just don't cool down, that makes the heat just about unbearable.
Below is a graphic showing the daily temperature range in Pheonix (KPHX) for the last 60 days. With minimum temperatures over 90 degrees, I bet people are blasting their A/C units all night long.
