it is recommended to create items for the articles or books we want to cite. But that's very painful to do manually. Ideally, I would like to just paste a DOI, and the item would be created for me using metadata retrieved from the Crossref API (or: I just paste an URL and Citoid finds the metadata). Would that be in the scope of this project?
