Suggestion: CTAN upload

@krono Is there a reason, why you haven't uploaded a version to CTAN? In my experience having a package on CTAN (and therefore in TeX Live and MiKTeX) makes usage for authors much easier. If you need help on that, I'll be glad to assist.

I considered that for years but never got to it.
Since it is rarely used outside of this institute, there was no pressing need.

More things:
If I read it correctly, CTAN wants an .ins for the .dtx, but the .dtx is its own .ins. what do I do?

You can upload it as is. Having a separate .ins file is a suggestion, but not a requirement. However, for TeX Live, Karl Barry (the main maintainer) may ask you for one as well. It should not stop you from uploading.
