Support for OS X via vlc-matlab or similar

Hi,

We are using CARMA for data collection, but we have mostly Macintosh hardware. Native Mac support for CARMA would be a fantastic and very welcomed feature. I have tried running it through VirtualBox and Parallels, but this results in choppy and laggy video, presumably a limitation of the virtualization, rather than the software.

CARMA's use of ActiveX controls for VLC coordination is clearly a limiting factor for support of non-Windows platforms, but I wanted to point out that I found a project, vlc-matlab, which purports to allow VLC control on Mac/Linux/Windows. I do not know if it has the right requirements to work with CARMA, but if it does this could be a way to make it multi-platform. Or if not, perhaps there are similar projects which provide a sort of platform-independent wrapper. Thanks! CARMA is a fantastic tool!

I'll look into that tool. If it can circumvent ActiveX, that would be a benefit.

Hi, any updates on this? I'm on Linux and would also like to use CARMA for my research.

The most likely outcome here would be for me to recreate a CARMA-like program that is web-based rather than executable. This would allow it to function across platforms and also be more easily usable by crowdworkers. I'm currently looking for funding to support this effort.
