Can‘t input search pattern beyond the 1st letter on a screen keyboard (linux) #1025

Which device / OS are you using? On a Windows touchscreen device, this doesn't seem to be an issue. Typing into the search bar on the on-screen keyboard works fine for me. |

Could you place give a try to portable version of Kiwix http://download.kiwix.org/release/kiwix-desktop/kiwix-desktop_x86_64_2.3.1.appimage And let us know if you suffer of the problem? If you still have the problem, could you please share the exact step by step procedure you follow with a very concrete example and ZIM file? |
right now i can't open the screen keyboard in the app at all (i click the search bar and nothing happens) |

@2-www just demonstrate the whole scenario, from launching kiwix to the fact that the screen keyboard does not appear. |

@Veloman I can reproduce the problem on my 22.04. I have activated the option in Gnome. The screen keyboard pops up on Firefox for example, but when I use Kiwix, nothing happens, the screen keyboard never pops up! |
when a letter is inputted into the search bar, the focus goes to the autocompletion popover. it's still possible to type on a real keyboard, but not on a screen keyboard
