After saving a text file with ANSI character encoding the character encoding is changed to UTF-8.

Hello,

Do you mean that after being uploaded to MEGA the character encoding of the file is changed? Or it happens locally on your device?

  1. If you uploaded a 7-bit ASCII text file and while editing it, you put a character outside this range, e.g. ASCII 8-bit, then the file will be saved as UTF-8 automatically.
  2. If this happens on your Windows device, you can refer to https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2285901-notepad-automatically-changing-files-from-ansi-to-utf-8

If that does not answer your question, feel free to email us at [email protected] from your account email so we can check further from there.

Hi,

I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner. The behaviour occurs when editing an ANSI character-encoded text file in the online mega-integrated text editor.
I guess:

If this belongs to a different repository I would kindly ask you to transfer the issue to the correct repository.
